Acadia: the Ocean Path

Explore one of the most picturesque places in Acadia National Park.

The Ocean Path is one of the most visited places in Acadia National Park and there is a reason for that. IT’S ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. The path is amazing on bright sunny days and foggy days (which occurs weekly on the island).

The Ocean Path runs along cliffs next to the ocean, of course. One can stay on the regular maintained path or explore on their own along the granite cliffs. Most people explore this area when it is bright and sunny (also extremely crowded), but a nice foggy day is great as well. I walked the path in both sunshine and fog and well, I liked the fog better honestly.

When I left home on the other side of the island, it was sunny. I noticed the fog slightly rolling in on the drive to the other side of the island and by the time I got to the path, it was completely fogged in.

The fog made the sea look slightly green, especially when next to the pink granite cliffs.

One of my favorite pictures from the park so far.

I came to Acadia for cliffs, evergreens and fog. I have not been disappointed one bit.

Thunder Hole is one of the biggest attractions along the Ocean Path. High Tide rushing in creates a loud thundering sound. You are lucky if you actually catch it thundering. This is not Thunder Hole but listening to the waves here was much more rewarding.

A fogged in cobble stone beach.

In complete contrast, Ocean Path in complete sunshine. I swear the fog creates two parks. Everything looks completely different in the fog and then you experience a place again when the sun peaks through.
