Acadia: Jordan Pond

Explore one of the most popular destinations in Acadia National Park as I follow the Jordan Pond Trail.

This week’s update features one of the busiest areas of the park, especially in the summer. I visited in May, so the crowds were not a problem. It’s not hard to figure out why this area is so popular.

Seriously.

The trail around Jordan Pond is still one of my favorites. It’s a combination of easy gravel paths that turn more moderate in difficulty the farther you go along the pond.

Many people come here just for the view above and the popovers at Jordan Pond House, but don’t experience what else that lays right ahead of them. Maybe they are put off a bit about the 3 mile walk around.

Simply amazing. The hills at the end of Jordan Pond are called the Bubbles and people really like to climb them. I personally don’t have a death wish.

The lovely gravel path alongside the east side of the pond.

Almost to the Bubbles.

One of the Bubbles and a very stinky small pond.

The end of the gravel path. The trail turns into this rocky shoreline, and it was really fun to walk.

The rocky path continues along the pond.

I love this shot.

The trail then changes to this fun boardwalk. As a trained archaeologist, I had no issue walking on this. I’m used to just a single board walkway.

Amazing views from everywhere along the lake.

Check out my next update where I go the furthest east you can go in the United States!
