A brief exploration of an adorable medieval Swiss village.
It was the end of the day, but there was still a bit of daylight left. I was staying in Buchs in order to visit Liechtenstein. However, there was a tiny little medieval village only a ten-minute walk or so from my hotel. I’m glad I went out even though it was a rainy evening.
The village of Werdenberg is complete with a castle and about 40 timber-framed houses centuries old. A little village, that is somehow still intact, was formed at the base of the castle, on a lake. Even though the whole town takes about 5 minutes to walk and looks like it is entirely a museum, many of the homes are still privately owned.
Jana Irving The tiny town of Werdenberg. That’s basically all of it.
Jana Irving So very cute. And yes, that is a fountain made from a log.
Jana Irving There are also a few shops in the village.
Jana Irving So cool!
Jana Irving Some people attempt to drive through here.
Jana Irving It’s amazing that these traditional homes still survive.
Jana Irving Heading down the other street of the village. There are like two, not including the one that goes up to the castle.
Jana Irving The end of the village. It is really that tiny.
Jana Irving Looking back.
Werdenberg was just so cute, I had to share. Werdenberg can be found just outside of Buchs, Switzerland, which is a good place to stay if you want visit Liechtenstein.
